specific look for action scenes

like i said before, im not interested in the wipe. the wipe is cool, the wipe is awesome. i can handle spiffy wipes. im interested in the look of the motion as the guy falls off the horse and the sand flies up arround him. thats all. i guess i chose a bad example. i just picked it becuase it was the last thing i rembembered using that effect.

The Trailer I wacthed was at 8fps so I don't know if I'm judging the film or the low res compression.

so your talking about undercranking the camera? like Private Ryan? they do it to in Evil Dead 2 when Ash is smacking himself on the head with the plates! listen to the commentary on the DVD, one of the best ive heard!

Though I believe I know the effect tatorhead is mentioning, I'm not a filmmaker or cameraman so can't help with practical advice for him.

i have no idea what he is on about since i havent seen the trailer, but the fact everyone is on about saving private ryan... does that mean he is on about that ulra sharp look to action scenes which gives the staccato effect? Cos if he does then its done with a 45 degree shutter
